People who were into photography during the 1950's to 1980's often have large collections of 35mm slides or transparencies. As with most film the 35mm slides also have a limited life, being affected by humidity, temperature, chemical contamination, light and the films age. Here in Australia where we experience extreme weather conditions, film transparencies can very quickly develop problems with the emulsion and dyes that make up the image.
PHOTO SCANNING AND DAMAGE REMOVAL:
If you have albums full of old photos, these can be scanned and included in a DVD slideshow also. Damaged images such as tears or creases can be fixed digitally, restoring them to their former glory. Digital photo restoration will be priced according to the amount of work required and a quotation will be given.
To preserve these aging slides it is recommended that they be scanned and stored in a digital format to eliminate any further deterioration.
OUR SLIDE SCANNING SERVICE:
Your 35mm slides are preserved using the following process.
Scanning the slides at 300dpi at full print size and saved to file.
Images are colour corrected with digital dust removal applied.
Creation of a slide show that includes dissolve transitions.
Background music included.
Opening scene menu for navigation.
Complimentary supply of all slides in high resolution JPG or TIFF format on CD or Data DVD.
Printed case with colour label.
SCANNER HIRE:
Slide scanning is expensive by nature simply due to the cost of labour. To help reduce the cost we can provide a small portable 35mm slide scanner for $25.00 weekend hire. Once your slides have been scanned we can then create a DVD slideshow for you at a cost of just $60.00. Typically slides cost around $1.00 each to scan so if you have any more than 25 slides it makes sense to do it yourself. A returnable $25.00 deposit will be required for this hire service. The slides are scanned to a small memory card and you do not require a computer.
NOTE:
Our basic service does not include physical cleaning of the slides that may already be contaminated with mildew or fungal spots. We can offer this cleaning service at an additional cost or you can perform it yourself before sending the slides to us. We will advise you on the best method to clean the slides without damaging the emulsion.
